This invention relates to internal combustion engines. The free-piston machines (SPM) of the tandem type, containing at least two parallel, internal and external cylinder-piston groups with linearly mounted compressor rings and working cylinders, compressor and working pistons, external of which are connected by external crossbars and are interconnected by at least one longitudinal Binding element, and internal ones are interconnected by an internal cross member. During the combustion of fuel in the working cylinders, the external cylinder-piston groups make, due to the presence of bonding elements, a coordinated movement relative to the internal cylinder-piston group, as a result of which the compressor tandem type is alternately compressed in the compressor cylinders and has a higher specific power than the existence of interconnected groups of reciprocating pistons, causes the occurrence of significant bending moments and inertial forces that cause vibrations, especially in the communication elements of external piston groups. This limits the number of SPM cycles, and therefore, increases the power density of the machine. The goal of the invention is to increase the power density of the PSD. The goal is achieved by reducing the bending and inertial forces acting on the elements of the movement mechanism, and is accomplished by a certain mutual arrangement of the compressor and working cylinders relative to each other and the introduction of additional connections. For this, the external compressor pistons are located on the outer sides of the external crossbars, and pistons.- with their internal CTopo-i; we, and the external cross-pieces of the external cylinder-piston groups are equipped with guide rods, which are mounted between two fixed, internal and external brackets, to the external of which are attached to the outside of the compressor cylinders. To reduce the bending moments, the outer cross members can be interconnected by means of two longitudinal connecting elements located in the plane of the outer compressor cylinders and provided with guides in the form of at least one sleeve, fixedly fixed on the corresponding crossbar and installed in stationary bearings one spaced apart from each other, at least four diameters of the sleeve. FIG. 1 shows the basic structural scheme of the PSM with two external and internal cylinder-piston groups; in fig. 2 - a machine whose working cylinders form a rectangle, a cross section. The tandem free piston machine contains at least two parallel, inner 1 and outer 2 piston / cylinder groups with linearly mounted compressor 3 and 4 and working 5 cylinders, compressor b, 7 and working 8 pistons, the outer ones of which are the outer crossbars 9 and are interconnected by longitudinal connecting elements 10, and the inner ones are interconnected by an inner crossbar 11. The outer compressor pistons 7 are located on the outer sides of the outer crossbars 9, and the working pistons 8 - on their inside renney side (FIG. 1). The axes of the working cylinders 5 can be arranged in such a way that they form a rectangle, the axes of the outer compressor cylinders 4 are located on the vertical center line of this rectangle, and the axes of the inner compressor cylinders 3 - on its continuation (Fig. 2).
